This week’s Meguiar’s Ride of the Week features Larry and Lori Voss’ 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS out of Adrian, MN.

The journey of this 1963 Impala with the Voss family began in 1971. Larry was 14 year old high school student when he made the purchase. He restored it to driver condition and completed the project by the time he reached 16. Driving the car to and from school as well as dates with his high school sweetheart, Lori, who eventually became his wife in 1978. They have enjoyed the car with their three children since and have seen the car through three restoration projects recently turning it into a resto-mod for overall reliability and comfort with the help of Expert Auto Body in Adrian, MN.

The Impala has a 6.0 liter LS2 with a 5-speed manual Tremec transmission. The LS2 creates 475hp that is transferred into a C4 Corvette rear-end with independent suspension. Brakes have been upgraded to Wilwood disc front & rear. Flaming River rack & pinion steering along with tubular A-arms and QA1 coil-over shocks. Other special features include; Vintage Air, tilt wheel, Dakota Digital VHX dash, cruise control, electric windows, power windows, remote door locks, electric trunk release, factory tach and tinted smoke glass. Interior kept a mild custom design with embroidered Impala logos on the seat backs and in the fully upholstered truck area completed by Tim’s Upholstery in Sherburn, MN. The rear seat was re-designed to mimic split independent seats with a chrome wrap like the front buckets.

There have been no major body modifications to the car. The firewall has been smoothed and painted with GM Pewter and one piece California chrome bumpers were installed. The body is coated with PPG Custom Anniversary Gold. Otherwise there has been no major body modifications to this car.

The Impala qualified for the Billet Specialties Top 20 at Chicago’s World of Wheels in 2019 and the Summit Racing Equipment / ISCA Championship Finals in 2020.
