Meguiar’s Ride of the Week: Mike Momb’s 1950 Chevrolet Pickup  from Sisseton, SD.

Originally built in Oakland, CA in July 1950. Mike bought the truck 45 years ago from the 2nd owner John Olsen, his father-in-law, for $150. Nice negotiating!!!

It had been custom painted using a bucket of blue paint and a 6″ brush. The truck looks much better in the PPG 1970 Chevelle Black/Cherry 2042 Clear. After seeing the truck, Mike’s mother referred to it as The Flintstone Mobile as one could feet through the floorboards.

Mike brought his first child Annie home from Kootenai Memorial Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, ID in May 1976. She referred to the truck as “her truck” when whe was little. Annie thought the family had gotten ride of her truck when it was actually sent to Salem, OR for the first rebuild in 1985. One can imagine her excitement when the family started showing her the build photos. Sadly, Annie passed away from cystic fibrosis in 1989. The current rebuild on the truck started in 1989 and was completed in 2019 by Mark Momb (Spokane, WA) and Dave Anderson at Route 15 Body Works in Wimot, SD. Mike still enjoys traveling to car shows showing off Annie’s truck and sharing the story of it’s journey.
