Custom Cars & Competitions To Warm Up Dallas Market Hall During the O’Reilly Auto Parts Autorama
February 15th, 2012
DALLAS – Feb. 15, 2012 – From Friday Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb.19, the 52nd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama® of Dallas will fill the Dallas Market Hall with outrageous performance vehicles, sought-after classics, national celebrities and a charity auction unlike any other. The O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama is sanctioned by the International Show Car Association (ISCA) and is part of the Summit Racing Show Car Series.
“Families in the DFW metroplex won’t want to miss this year’s show-stopping event,” said, Bob Larivee Jr., CEO of Championship Auto Shows Inc. “With an exciting combination of rare vehicles and high-powered action stunts, Dallas AutoRama provides a unique experience for gearheads and car fanatics.”
The show schedule is as follows:
Friday, 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
A handful of celebrities will be available to meet the public and sign autographs on Saturday. Special guests include WWE’s World Champion Rey Mysterio and Captain Ranger, the Texas Ranger’s mascot. “Billy the Exterminator” star Billy Bretherton will be in attendance on Sunday.
Highlighting the event will be outstanding feature cars, including Dean Jeffries’ “Mantaray,” built in 1963 with a revolutionary frame and distinctive bubbletop, as well as the 2011 Camaro Transformers Special Edition, specially built for the filming of Transformers 3. Attendees can also view the BASF 1957 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, redesigned by Chip Foose and a Factory Five Racing ‘33 Coupe.
An addition to this year’s show, the Pinstriper Panel Jam and Charity Auction will raise money for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Pinstripers from across the area will gather together to pinstripe items in front attendees, including a Radio Flyer wagon, bowling pins and an electric scooter. Auctions will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., as well as at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
“The Pinstiper Panel Jam and Chartiy Auction is an important way that everyone coming to AutoRama can give back to the community,” added Larivee. “Every year, people come together to celebrate a hobby that’s more than 100 years old at our show. This year, they can take home a pinstriped souvenir and know that they contributed to one of the nation’s leading pediatric centers.”
In between attending the charity auctions and viewing out the hottest feature cars, guests can check out the action arena for Cacklefests featuring the Living Legends of Drag Racing, Big Foot Monster Truck Car Crushing demonstrations and burnout competitions. The Gizzlehopper, Scorpion I and Scorpion V will burn rubber on the drag strip throughout the three-day event. In addition, vehicle owners can attend Meguiar’s Car Care Tips seminars each day during AutoRama and discover exhibits, such as Motorama Traditional Rod & Custom Exhibit presented by Ol Skool Rodz and DRAG CITY USA’s selection of vintage racecars.
