Canada’s Best Car Crazy Competiton is back – It’s Time to Shine!

February 14th, 2012

The Grand Champion's Diary - SEMA: A Retrospective

Another car show season looms just around the corner. It’s almost time to take the car covers off & get behind the wheel for another summer full of track days, car shows, and club meets.

In 2011, Meguiar’s Canada introduced a monumental nationwide contest to highlight the best that Canadian Car Culture has to offer. Canada’s Best – A Car Crazy Competition, took Meguiar’s across Canada, and featured some of Canada’s best Cars, and some of Canada’s best Car Shows. The competition featured 3 key events — spanning Western Canada, Central Canada, and Eastern Canada — providing a chance for Canadians in all regions to exhibit their cars, and participate in the competition. At the conclusion of our journey, it was down to 59 cars out of the thousands that had showed up to compete for this coveted title. On July 1st, 2011, Canada Day, the people had spoken, and one vehicle stood above the rest as Grand Champion: the Veilside 1992 Mazda RX-7, owned by Matt Desormeaux, of Val-des-Monts, Quebec.

As Grand Champion Matt was sent on an all expenses paid trip for two to the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where his award winning vehicle was put on display and made a featured appearance on Car Crazy TV, with the one and only Barry Meguiar. You can follow Matt on his VIP Car Crazy SEMA Experience by visiting his video diary at the link to the right.

With the introduction of Matt’s video diary, Meguiar’s Canada is excited to announce that 2012 will see the return of the Canada’s Best Car Crazy Competition, and once again Meguiar’s Canada will travel across Canada to highlight Canada’s best show cars.

This year’s tour will include:

  • World of Wheels, Calgary, AB — Feb 17, 18, 19,
  • MegaSpeed Custom Car and Truck Show, Toronto, ON — March 9, 10, 11,
  • World of Wheels Winnipeg, MB — March 16, 17, 18,
  • 43rd Salon Autosport — Quebec City, QC — April 13, 14, 15,

At each of the above mentioned shows, the 10 best Canadian Cars will be selected & featured on the ocial Canada’s Best Car Crazy Competition website www.canadasbest.ca. The pool of 40 competitors will submit photos, and spec sheets to www.canadasbest.ca, where car enthusiasts across Canada will register and vote for their favourite car. The car with the most votes at close of voting will be declared Grand Champion, and win the Grand Prize, an expenses paid trip to SEMA in Las Vegas, NV. The cars pre-selected for public voting will be revealed on May 1, 2012 and voting will continue through until June 18th, 2012. Then on July 1, 2012 Canada Day, Meguiar’s Canada will announce the Grand Prize winner in this year’s Canada’s Best Car Crazy Competition. The Grand Prize winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where their vehicle will be displayed in the SEMA International Car Crazy Corral, appear on Car Crazy TV, and meet the one and only Barry Meguiar. Want to see Canadian Car Culture at its best? There’s 4 Car Crazy events waiting for you! This contest is open to legal residents of Canada whom are the legal age of majority.

Can’t make one of these 4 events? No problem! You can view the best that Canada has to offer by going to www.canadasbest.ca. Voting begins on May 1st, but register to vote now for your chance to win 1 of 9 Meguiar’s prize packs. Come on Canada, get Car Crazy! Enjoy!
